Library Wines
What is a “Library wine?” A Library wine is wine that we have held back a small portion of a vintage to age in our Cellar. This allows us the opportunity to taste our wines as they mature, thereby giving us insight into how the wine is aging in bottle, how our two estate vineyards are developing and/or aging, and helps us advise our patrons on the age-ability of the wines in their cellars.
Wines “in the Library” are not currently available for sale, but may be released in the future to our La Famiglia Wine Club as individual bottles or vertical offerings. Please inquire at the Tasting Room or send us an email (hospitality@furiosovineyards.com) to inquire about their future availability. **Note that wines with a bottle photo have inventory in the Library. Wines that have a label as the photo are completely Sold Out.

2016 La Linea Furioso Pinot Noir
Every attention to detail has been given crafting our flagship wine, La Linea Furioso Pinot Noir. Using the best grapes from the best blocks in our estate vineyard, we carefully guided the fermentation process to extract the most delicate tannins and preserve the complex aromatics of the fruit. The wine was then aged for ten months in some of the most prestigious french barrels available before being bottled in September 2016.

“This young, fresh and delicious wine was neither fined nor filtered and was fermented with native yeasts. Barrel aging (30% new) has resulted in a toastiness that frames its spicy raspberry jam flavors. The texture, balance and finish are spot-on.” ~ Paul Gregutt

Tasting Notes
Our 2016 La Linea offers vibrant aromas of violet and blueberry with a hint a black pepper. In the mouth, this newly released wine shows great concentration and a broad palate, with firm tannins which will soften with aging. This rich and complex Pinot is meant to be enjoyed with food and would be the perfect pairing for duck confit or balsamic glazed salmon fillets.

2016 L’Altra Pinot Noir
An overall warmer Oregon vintage led to an early harvest of our Dundee estate Furioso Vineyard which started on August 31st. Unfavorable weather conditions at fruit set drastically lowered our crop for that year, with an average yield of 1.6 tons per acre (vice our usual 3 tons). Clusters were half their usual size and berries were small, leading to an amazing concentration and depth in the finished wine. This was perfect for creating a 2016 L’Altra as masculine as Pinot Noir can be.

Dominique Mahé, our Winemaker:
Medium purple in color, aromatically the 2016 L’Altra is bursting with blueberry and blackberry fruit with a touch of earthiness and a hint of menthol. In the mouth, it is very structured, with powerful tannins and a refreshing acidity on the finish to complete this persuasive Pinot. Fire up your barbecues people, as our 2016 L’Altra demands to be paired with lamb shanks or even a juicy roast beef. This wine will cellar for over 10 years and we recommend decanting it if opened in its youth.

2015 La Linea Pinot Noir

Using the best grapes from the best blocks in our estate vineyard, we carefully guided the fermentation process to extract the most delicate tannins and preserve the complex aromatics of the fruit. 92 pts | Wine Advocate“The 2015 Pinot Noir La Linea Furioso is pale to medium ruby-purple with savory/meaty notes of charcuterie and olives over boysenberry jam and dried autumn leaves. Light to medium-bodied, it features sweet red and blue fruits in the mouth with spicy accents of nutmeg and cardamom, fine-grained tannins and very juicy, mouthwatering acidity, finishing long and very spicy. Drink 2018 through 2026.”
91pts | Wine Enthusiast“This wine’s brambly raspberry fruit has a distinctive, sharp edge. It’s tightly framed with peppery tannins. Extended aeration reveals some barrel toast and warms up the finish. It was sourced from select barrels and should age nicely for up to a decade.”

Tasting Notes
Dominique Mahé, our Winemaker:
Our 2015 La Linea Furioso has an inviting translucent ruby color. Complex aromatically, the wine offers a vibrant bouquet of blood orange, nutmeg, cranberry with some underlying notes of cinnamon and rose petal. Once in the mouth, all those are complemented by flavors of strawberry and licorice. Although still young, the wine has delicate tannins and the general structure shows a high level of refinement. This estate-grown wine, which delivers extreme finesse both on the nose and in the mouth, will continue to improve for the next 8 to 10 years.

2015 L’Altra Furioso Pinot Noir
The 2015 L’Altra Linea Furioso Pinot Noir is by design a bolder, more “masculine” expression of our Dundee Estate. The nose presents a remarkable combination of black and blue fruit overlaid with spice notes of white pepper and vanilla. A firmer style than La Linea, it offers more weight and sweet, juicy tannins on the palate. The long finish brings additional layers of cedar, sandalwood, and toast. This altra or “other” Estate wine has great aging potential and will benefit from being decanted if served in the next 2 years.

2016 Kalita Vineyard Pinot Noir
We were very excited in 2016 to be able to put our hands on 4 tons of Pinot noir fruit (all Pommard clone) from the Kalita Vineyard in the Willamette Valley’s Yamhill-Carlton AVA. The vines were 16 years old at harvest and their roots were deep enough to express the specific terroir of that site and its classic marine sedimentary Willakenzie soil. As a bordering vineyard to the Kalita Vineyard, our Trovato estate vineyard shares lots of similarities with Kalita – soil, elevation, macro-climate, etc. and this was an amazing opportunity for us to get a sense of what our own vineyard would be able to give us when it would start bearing its own fruit. We definitely were not disappointed. Yamhill-Carlton, Willamette Valley, Oregon Total production: 514 cases SOLD OUT

2014 La Linea Pinot Noir
It is Giorgio Furioso’s objective, and hence that of the Furioso Vineyards Team, to make the best Oregon Pinot Noir. La Linea Furioso – The Furioso Line – is our premier, barrel-select label, and is among the best Oregon Pinot Noir available. Its elegant, refined, and aromatically complex nature creates a distinct and unique experience. La Linea 2014 was produced using free run extraction and “lightly directed” while aging 10 months in French oak. We used 65% old barrels, adding 35% new to give the wine extra body. Our Head of Wine Jared Etzel repeatedly tested the wine, eventually selecting 6 barrels most representative of the cellar to carry our flagship label. The wine was bottled in September 2015. While this is a wine you can enjoy now, the complexity of its character will continue to evolve in your cellar. Willamette Valley, Oregon Total production: 6 barrels (150 cases) SOLD OUT

2014 L’Altra Pinot Noir
This is not merely good Pinot Noir, it is exceptional and distinctive in its own right. It is bolder than La Linea, and more masculine in style. L’Altra Linea 2014 was produced using lightly pressed extraction. It was aged 10 months in French oak (65% old, 35% new) and bottled in September 2015. Willamette Valley, Oregon SOLD OUT |

With a darker fruit profile on the nose, L’altra showcases the masculine side of our Estate with its rich and powerful tannins. Dark cherry and juicy blackberry flavors coat the palate as the wine structure builds up in the mouth, leading to a long and gratifying finish

2018 Tocai Friulano
Finally! Our very first release of our Friulano! The fruit is from our own vineyard in Yamhill (Trovato Vineyard) where less than an acre is planted with this unique Italian white varietal. It originated in the SW of France where it is known as Sauvignonasse or Sauvignon Vert before finding a perfect home in the northeast of Italy. There, its full name became Tocai Friulano, which explains why it is often confused with the sweet Tokay (or Tokaji) from Hungry; so, spoiler alert, our 2018 Friulano is bone dry!
The fruit was picked at a low 21 Brix and moderate acidity. The juice from the pressed whole-cluster was fermented and aged for a short time in neutral French oak.
The wine displays spicy aromatics with notes of lychee, guava and a hint of clove. Round and mellow in the mouth, the wine delivers exotic fruit in a seamless structure.
We recommend pairing our 2018 Tocai Friulano with a pan-fried halibut in a lemon butter sauce and capers, or a simple cranberry and cilantro quinoa salad.

2017 Chardonnay
2017 is the last vintage we used non-estate fruit for our Chardonnay. That year, we sourced the grapes from the Robinson Vineyard, one of the most northern sites in the Willamette Valley AVA. The vines are over 20 years old and the clone is Dijon 95, a well-proven clone in the production of classic Oregon Chardonnays. This small lot has been fermented and aged in neutral French oak barrels. True to our nature, the wine is unfiltered (just very meticulously racked) and bottled using the lowest level of sulfur possible.
Dundee Hills, Willamette Valley, Oregon SOLD OUT
Tasting Notes
Dominique Mahé, our Winemaker:
On the nose, the 2017 Chardonnay shows notes of lemon, pear, wet stone and a hint of tangerine skin. In the mouth, the wine is graceful and elegant, with a very polished structure that finally opens to a vibrant finish with a zesty citrusy accent. This wine will pair well with a simple onion tart or seared scallops with a coconut lemongrass sauce.

2016 Terry Family Vineyard Chardonnay
As Furioso Vineyards’ Chardonnay grapes were not yet ready for production, we sourced fruit from the Terry Family Vineyard and the Lazy River Vineyard. The Terry Family Vineyard is approximately 4 miles northwest of Carlton, Oregon at an elevation of roughly 400 feet. The Lazy River Vineyard is northwest of Yamhill, Oregon on the slope of Mt. Richmond at an elevation of 370 feet. The wine was aged in neutral French oak barrels for 20 months to enhance the broadness on the palate. Produced with Burgundy in mind, this wine reflects the lower alcohol, higher acidity style appreciated by both foodies and Francophiles.
