2017 La Linea Pinot Noir

 

Every attention to detail has been given crafting our flagship wine, La Linea Furioso Pinot Noir. Using the best grapes from the best blocks in our estate vineyard, we carefully guided the fermentation process to extract the most delicate tannins and preserve the complex aromatics of the fruit. The wine was then aged for ten months in some of the most prestigious french barrels available before being bottled..

Tasting Notes

A little shy with its look, the 2017 La Linea Pinot Noir will surprise with its perfumed, complex nose of fresh raspberry, violet, and sweet spice. In the mouth, the wine is gracefully expressive with cherry and blueberry flavors, with elusive notes of blood orange and a delicate structure that delivers extremely polished tannins.

2017 L’Altra Pinot Noir

 

Our 2017 L’Altra is the true expression of our estate Furioso Vineyard here in Dundee. Picked at the optimum balance of sugar and acid, the grapes from these old Pinot noir vines were 100% destemmed and naturally fermented in small 2-ton stainless steel tanks. A judicious combination of pump-overs and punch-downs proved successful in gently extracting the delicate tannins and complex aromas from the grape skins. Free-run and press fractions were kept separate and the wine was then aged for 10 months in French oak barrels, 25% of which were new. It was during that time in our cellar that the wine spontaneously underwent its secondary fermentation, contributing to the wine delicate texture. After nearly 8 months in the bottle, the 2017 L’Altra Pinot Noir is now ready to drink.

After over 8 months in the bottle, this little gem is ready for her grand entrance. On the nose the wine has notes of blackberry, black cherry and cinnamon. In the mouth, velvety tannins are complimented by the natural acidity from the grapes which carries the wine to a gratifying finish.

2016 L’Altra Pinot Noir

 

An overall warmer Oregon vintage led to an early harvest of our Dundee estate Furioso Vineyard which started on August 31st. Unfavorable weather conditions at fruit set drastically lowered our crop for that year with an average yield of 1.6 tons per acre (vice our usual 3 tons). Clusters were half their usual size and berries were small, leading to an amazing concentration and depth in the finished wine. This was perfect for creating a 2016 L’Altra as masculine as Pinot noir can be.

Medium purple in color, aromatically the 2016 L’Altra is bursting with blueberry and blackberry fruit with a touch of earthiness and a hint of menthol. In the mouth, it is very structured, with powerful tannins and a refreshing acidity on the finish to complete this persuasive Pinot. Fire up your barbecues people, as our 2016 L’Altra demands to be paired with lamb shanks or even a juicy roast beef. This wine will cellar for over 10 years and we recommend decanting it if opened in its youth.

 2014 La Linea Pinot Noir

 

It is Giorgio Furioso’s objective, and hence that of the Furioso Vineyards Team, to make the best Oregon Pinot Noir.

La Linea Furioso – The Furioso Line – is our premier, barrel-select label, and is among the best Oregon Pinot Noir available. Its elegant, refined, and aromatically complex nature creates a distinct and unique experience.

La Linea 2014 was produced using free run extraction and “lightly directed” while aging 10 months in French oak. We used 65% old barrels, adding 35% new to give the wine extra body. Our Head of Wine Jared Etzel repeatedly tested the wine, eventually selecting 6 barrels most representative of the cellar to carry our flagship label. The wine was bottled in September 2015.

While this is a wine you can enjoy now, the complexity of its character will continue to evolve in your cellar.

The 2014 La Linea Furioso offers a subtle and delicate floral nose of violet and a hint of cranberry. In the mouth, the wine develops into licorice and spice, and every sip offers more complex layers of enticing flavors. Despite its youth, the wine has well-integrated tannins and shines by its purity and finesse.

 2017 Vincenzo Pinot Noir

 

This is the very first release of a new Pinot Noir from our Dundee Hills estate Furioso Vineyard. Please welcome Vincenzo, named after Giorgio’s father and grandfather. The 2017 Vincenzo delivers aromas of plum, violet, and cinnamon spice which carry over to the palate. There, it will open up to more complex flavors of Bing cherry, herbal tea, and cedar. The wine is nicely structured, with a moderate acidity and a seamless integration. This wine will definitely improve with age and can be cellared for a couple of years to reach its peak, or decanted before serving if opened earlier. This wine will find its perfect companion in the shape of roasted duck in a peppercorn reduction.

This first release of a new Pinot noir line from our Dundee estate, the 2017 Vincenzo delivers aromas of plum, violet and cinnamon spice, which carry over to the palate. From there, it will open-up to more complex flavors of Bing cherry, herbal tea, and cedar. The wine is nicely structured, with a moderate acidity and a seamless integration. This wine will continue to improve with age, and we encourage cellaring for a couple more years in order to allow this Vincenzo to reach its full potential. We recommend decanting before serving if opened in its youth. This wine will find its perfect companion in the pairing of roasted duck in a peppercorn reduction.
